Moon City Press is a regional non-profit press that publishes stories, scholarship, and histories from the Ozarks, and also sponsors the Moon City Poetry Award and the Moon City Short Fiction Award, annual competitions for poetry and short story collections open to all writers. In addition, Moon City Press has launched the Missouri Author Series, given annually to a book of fiction, poetry, or nonfiction, written by a Missouri-born or Missouri-based author.

Our annual literary anthology, Moon City Review, accepts submissions of fiction, poetry, nonfiction, graphic narrative, translations, and book reviews.

Book authors may use this submission system to submit a prospectus or enter one of the competitions. Feel free to examine our current booklist on our site at http://moon-city-press.com.

Moon City Press t-shirts are 100% cotton and feature the MCP logo on the front. There are two color schemes available: a white logo on a black background or a yellow logo on a navy background.

Starting in Fall 2019, Moon City Review will regularly publish reviews at its website, mooncityreview.com. We will favor reviews of contemporary books of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and graphic narrative, particularly from small/independent/university presses; we are also looking for reviews of books recently translated into English. We are aiming for reviews of approximately 2,000 words but will go higher or lower if the review warrants the length.

If you have a review that fits this description, please submit. If you have questions or are looking for a review assignment, contact Reviews Editor Katelyn Grisham at katelyn094@live.missouristate.edu.

The Missouri Author Series is a book series dedicated to authors residing in Missouri or writing about Missouri in the genres of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. If you wish to nominate an author or self-nominate, use this category.  Since the 2015 publication in the series was fiction, we are more inclined to consider nonfiction or poetry this time. No full manuscript submissions (first 20-30 pages only). Original work only–no previously published or self-published books. Authors associated with Moon City Press are not eligible.

Moon City Press is not accepting non-fiction book proposals at this time.
